Olson and Cowan are the 2009 U.S. novice silver medalists and the 2011 U.S. junior pewter medalists ... Missed the 2009 Junior Grand Prix Series after Cowan cut his hand at practice a week before their first assignment, an injury that required surgery ... Started skating together in April 2007.
Olson started skating when she was 7 because she liked the cold of the rink in the hot of summer ... Participated in the Basic Skills Program from 2000-01 ... Skated with Greg Zuerlein from 2001-06, with whom she won the intermediate bronze medal at the 2005 U.S. Junior Championships, and Patrick Mays from 2006-07 ... Previously coached by Tatiana Gladkova, Igor Shpilband and Marina Zoueva, and Yuri Chesnichenko and Yasa Nechaeva ... Volunteers with the learn-to-skate program at her rink three days a week ...
