Takahashi and Tran are the 2012 world bronze medalists, the 2010 Junior Grand Prix Final champions, two-time world junior medalists and four-time Japanese champions.

Teamed up in July 2007 ... They are just the second pairs team from Japan to medal at an ISU championship (Yuko Kawaguchi and Alexander Markuntsov, silver at the 2001 World Junior Championships).

She was born in Chiba, Japan, and lived for a time in China ... Started skating when she was 5 because her older sister, Misumi, skated on a synchronized team ... Originally competed in singles ... Was the national bronze medalist as a novice in Japan ... While in China, competed with partner Gao Yu, with whom she placed sixth as a senior at the 2004 Chinese Championships ... Approached coach Richard Gauthier to find her a new partner in Canada ... Enjoys listening to music (Japanese pop, rock and classical) and shopping ... Played soccer for six years.

He started skating when he was 4 ... Originally a singles skater ... Placed ninth on the novice level at the 2007 Canadian Championships ... Moved from Regina, Saskatchewan, to Montreal, Quebec, to train with Gauthier ... Parents were refugees from Vietnam and Cambodia ... Interests include listening to music (rap, hip hop and indie rock), watching movies, collecting coins, and playing the guitar and piano ... Made it to the provincial championships in both the high jump and the hurdles, finishing fifth in the hurdles ... Plays hockey, basketball and volleyball for fun.
