Virtue and Moir are the 2010 Olympic gold medalists, two-time world champions (2010, '12), three-time Grand Prix Final silver medalists and 2012 Four Continents champions.
Began skating together in 1997, when she was 7 and he 9 ... Moir's older brother, Danny, competed at the international junior level as well and now coaches; his mother is a skating coach, and his father played hockey ... Became the first Canadian ice dancers to win the world junior title (2006) ... They are also the first North American ice dancers to win the Olympic gold medal ... Virtue underwent surgery in October 2008 to repair injuries in her shins due to a condition called chronic exertional compartment sydrome; this injury forced them out of the 2008 ISU Grand Prix Series ... They returned to action at the 2009 Canadian Championships, where they won their second senior title ... Missed the first half of the 2010-11 season after Virtue underwent surgery on both shins ... Couple returned to competition in February 2011 for the Four Continents Championships but withdrew during the free dance.
