Carolina Kostner is 2012 world champion, 2013 world silver medalist, 2011 world bronze medalist and 2011 Grand Prix Final champion.

Won the first European ladies title for Italy in history (in 2007) ... Was the first Italian lady to medal at the world championships (bronze in 2005) since Susanna Driano took the bronze medal at the 1978 World Championships ... Her silver medal at the 2008 World Championships was the highest finish ever for an Italian woman at worlds ... Was also the first Italian singles skater to win a medal at the junior worlds (bronze in 2003) ... Made coaching switch in summer 2009, at which point she also began working with psychologist Daniele Popolizio ... Was previously coached by Michael Huth in Oberstdorf, Germany ... Went back to Huth in July 2010 ... Is a cousin and godchild of famous Italian skier Isolde Kostner and says she feels inspired by her ... Kostner's mother Patrizia was a nationally ranked figure skater in the 1970s, and her father Erwin played ice hockey on the Italian national team at the world championships and Olympic Games ... Has two brothers, Martin (one year older) and Simon (three years younger) ... Simon plays ice hockey ... Missed the 2006-07 ISU Grand Prix Series due to injury (torn ligaments).
