Patrick Chan is a three-time world champion (2011, '12, '13) and a two-time (2010-11) Grand Prix Final champion.

Both of Chan's parents are from Hong Kong ... Father moved to Canada at the age of 4, his mother at the age of 21 ... Speaks English, French and Cantonese ... Was coached by Osborne Colson from the beginning of his career until Colson's death in July 2006 ... Switched coaches to Shin Amano and Ellen Burka at Granite Club in Toronto temporarily after Colson's passing, then began working with Don Laws as a secondary coach in August 2006 ... Switched to Laws full-time in February 2007, training in Florida when he is not in school ... Moved to Colorado Springs in January 2010 to work with Christy Krall and Lori Nichol ... Announced the end of his two-year coaching relationship with Krall in April 2012 ... Had a successful junior career, winning a JGP gold medal in the fall of 2005 and then taking the world junior silver medal in 2007 ... Broke through at the senior level with a gold medal at the Trophee Bompard in November 2007 ... At 17, he became the youngest Canadian men's champion when he upset soon-to-be world champion Jeffrey Buttle to win that title in January 2008 ... Won two gold medals in 2008 Grand Prix Series (at Skate Canada and at the Trophee Bompard again) and earned his first win at Four Continents (at the Vancouver Olympic venue) in February 2009 ... Skated in five events in 2010-11 and won four of them, taking first at Skate Canada, the Grand Prix Final, the Canadian Championships and the World Championships.
