Halverson is the 2007 U.S. junior champion, 2006 U.S. novice champion and 2004 U.S. intermediate champion.
Began skating at age 7 because his house was near a pond ... When the 1998 World Championships were held in Minneapolis, his mom took him out of first grade all week, and they watched every event ... After that, he asked his mom if he could have private lessons ... Participated in the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program in 1998 ... First memory was seeing Olympian Jill Trenary's display in the lobby of his rink; he couldn't believe someone from Minnesota was in the Olympics ... Selected to be on a nationally televised PBS television show,
DragonFly-TV, for a special segment that aired in 2003 on the scientific effects that figure skating spins have on balance/eye movement ... Family has been a foster family for displaced dogs until a "forever home" can be found ... He and his brother, Ian, 19, were born in Bogota, Colombia, while his sister was born in Asuncion, Paraguay ... All three were adopted separately as infants, and his mother spent nine weeks in Colombia awaiting a judge's signature for his adoption papers ... Came home to the United States on Mother's Day ... Works part time at the University of Michigan Hospital gift shop ... Hobbies include reading, going to the movies, shopping, listening to music and swimming ... Favorite foreign city he has traveled to is The Hague, Netherlands, because of "the blend of amazing architecture and gloriously green gardens" ... Has a passion for film ...
