(08/15/2013) - Single-session tickets for 2013 Hilton HHonors Skate America will go on sale at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, Aug. 16. Skate America, the first of six stops in the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, will take place Oct. 18-20 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Team USA will be headlined by 2010 Olympic champion Evan Lysacek, who will compete in his first Grand Prix event since 2009, and reigning world and Skate America ice dance champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

Tickets, starting at $20, will be available at or the Joe Louis Arena box office (313.396.7907). Children's tickets (12 and under) are $10 with a paid adult ticket. Tickets are available to all five ticketed sessions, including the Smucker's Skating Spectacular, an exhibition following the competition.

Skate America will feature three days of competition in ladies, men's, pairs and ice dance. The field of competitors will include 52 world-class athletes, some of whom will compete at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The international field features 2010 Olympic silver medalist Mao Asada and bronze medalist Daisuke Takahashi of Japan, as well as 2013 world pairs champions Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov of Russia. Past Skate America titlists include five-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan, and Olympic champions Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton and Lysacek.

Other stops in the Grand Prix Series include Skate Canada (St. John, New Brunswick), Cup of China (Beijing), NHK Trophy (Tokyo), Trophée Eric Bompard (Paris) and Rostelecom Cup (Moscow). Skaters earn points throughout the Grand Prix Series to qualify for the Grand Prix Final each December. The 2013 Grand Prix Final will be held Dec. 5-8, in Fukuoka, Japan.

NBC will kick off its season-long coverage of the Grand Prix Series with a live broadcast of Skate America from 4-6 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, Oct. 20. will stream live coverage of the entire Grand Prix Series on a subscription basis. NBC will carry same-weekend coverage of the remaining Grand Prix events, while Universal Sports will broadcast live and delayed coverage throughout the Grand Prix season.
