(04/13/2013) - While difficult lifts and death spirals have been part of the arsenal for many years, the side-by-side elements and throw jumps were taken to a new level this year at the 2013 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships, with many throw double jumps and several difficult side-by-side jumps and sequences.

Choeleen Loundagin and Bilal Kheir won with a monstrous score of 68.95, completing a program with fantastic speed and edges, as well as a throw double loop, throw double Salchow and side-by-side double flips. Their only mistake was on the death spiral.

The silver medal went to Courtney Baga and Pete Biver with a score of 53.22, aided along by a fantastic double toe-double toe-Axel sequence and side-by-side double loops.

Carol Cooper and Ethan Burgess earned the bronze. Cooper only learned to skate just a few years ago, and this was her second competition. Due to a difficult Level 4 death spiral, and with some high level lifts getting bonus points after the halfway point, their score was 43.82.

Jan Calnan and Mark Stanford earned the pewter medal with a score of 41.48. Their elements included a throw double loop, a throw double Salchow and a double twist.
