(04/05/2013) - U.S. ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White, who won their second world title in March, earned Team of the Month honors Friday from the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).

This is the fourth time the duo has received this accolade; they were also named USOC Team of the Month in December 2009, December 2010 and April 2011.

The five-time U.S. champions set all-time scoring records for the short dance (77.12 points) and total score (189.56) en route to capturing the gold at the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships in London, Ontario. The win gave the Canton, Mich., skaters their second world crown in three years, having also topped the podium at the 2011 World Championships in Moscow.

The triumph in London capped an undefeated season for Davis and White, who also took home titles from 2012 Skate America, the 2012 NHK Trophy, the 2012 Grand Prix Final, the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the 2013 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

The USOC names a male athlete, female athlete and team of the month. Each national governing body may nominate one female, one male and one team per discipline. A voting panel selects the winners from the pool of nominees, with online fan voting via Twitter accounting for 10 percent of the total vote.
