(04/01/2013) - Seven U.S. athletes will compete across three levels at the 2013 Gardena Spring Trophy, April 1-3 in Selva Val Gardena, Italy. Held annually since 1990, Gardena Spring Trophy is a competition for ladies and men's skaters at the novice, junior and senior levels.

LADIES

Polina Edmunds will compete internationally for the first time after most recently winning the 2013 U.S. junior title. She is set to participate in the junior competition.

Karen Chen, the 2013 U.S. junior pewter medalist, will make her international debut in the novice competition. She has won U.S. titles at the intermediate (2011) and novice ('12) and levels.

MEN'S

Adam Rippon, the 2012 U.S. silver medalist, will compete at Gardena Spring Trophy for the first time. He finished fifth at the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships after placing fourth and eighth at his two Grand Prix Series events in the fall. Also representing the U.S. in the senior event is Brandon Mroz, who was ninth at the 2013 U.S. Championships. Mroz will compete internationally for the first time since the fall of 2011.

Jimmy Ma and Jordan Moeller will skate in the junior men's event. Ma is the 2013 U.S. junior pewter medalist, while Moeller finished fifth as a junior at the 2013 U.S. Championships.

Competing as a novice in Italy, Vincent Zhou has won consecutive U.S. titles at the intermediate (2011), novice ('12) and junior ('13) levels.
