Five favorite things with Scimeca and Knierim
U.S. pairs silver medalists cherish Colorado scenery, appreciate Gordeeva and Grinkov

Scimeca and Knierim, who train in Colorado Springs, Colo., with Dalilah Sappenfield, won the gold medal at the Cup of Nice in the fall of 2012. They followed up with a fourth-place finish at NHK Trophy and then won the silver medal at the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. They finished ninth at the 2013 World Championships.
They are a pair off the ice as well as on, and they say that dating each other adds to their strength as a team.

Scimeca: [Ekaterina] Gordeeva and [Sergei] Grinkov.
Icenetwork.com: What's your favorite thing about living in Colorado?
Scimeca: I like the inconsistent weather conditions. It snowed yesterday all day, and today it's sunny all day and there's no snow on the ground. And I love looking at the mountains -- it's inspiring.
Knierim: You can do anything here. I can drive five minutes and go fishing. Or I can go into the mountains and go snowboarding or skiing. You get nice sunny days, you get lots of snowy, stay-inside days. And the mountains are always pretty to see.
Icenetwork.com: What's your favorite thing to do with your time off?
Scimeca: Together, we both like to spend a whole Sunday afternoon at the lake. For me, I like doing stuff at home. I'm not that much of a hiker. I like to rhinestone things.
Knierim: Right now, my favorite thing is a little project in my garage. I'm putting a motor into my Firebird. I'm going to put it together when I get home from worlds.

Knierim: We Were Soldiers.

Scimeca: I like cookies. I always try to get a cookie.
