"After the world championships, I had time to reflect on the season and came to the conclusion that I needed to take a different approach," Rippon said. "Over the summer, I received the suggestion to travel to Lake Arrowhead and work with Rafael. I'm confident the move will be a positive one as I move forward in my career.
"I am very grateful to Jason and Yuka for their unconditional support and encouragement, which brought me to my first U.S. medal at the senior level."
Rippon is the only man to win back-to-back world junior titles (2008-09) and is the 2008 U.S. junior champion and the 2010 Four Continents champion. He has previously worked with coaches Brian Orser and Nikoli Morozov.
