The 2010 U.S. novice champions were particularly pleased with their free dance, choreographed by Pasquale Camerlengo to Lord of the Dance.
"We had fun," Aldridge said. "We always have fun with the free dance regardless of how we do. The choreography is uplifting, and it gives us energy when we need it the most."
"We got the levels we wanted," Eaton said. "The Level 3 on the last step sequence is always the hard one. You're tired with all the intricate steps, but we pulled it off this time, so we're really happy."
Aldridge and Eaton have only skated together since the late spring of 2009. Both hail from the Detroit Skating Club, where they are coached by Angelika Krylova, Elizabeth Punsalan, Massimo Scali and Natalia Annenko-Deller. Each day, they train alongside top teams like Nathalie Péchalat and Fabian Bourzat of France and Canadians Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje.
"It's the most motivating atmosphere that a rink could have," Aldridge said. "We have top men, ladies and dance, and we get to train with them every day. It keeps us working hard to be where they are at."
"DSC is definitely the new upcoming powerhouse of figure skating," Eaton said. "We have elite athletes here all the time, and it definitely keeps Alex and I motivated to train every day."
Any favorite movies?
Aldridge: Ask him first. I have to think about this.
Eaton: This Is It with Michael Jackson. I got it on Blu-ray a couple of days before we left for Quebec City. It's a spectacular movie.
Aldridge: My favorite movie of all time is Gone with the Wind. I know it's old , but I still love it. I have seen it a billion times. Every Christmas putting up the tree, we watch that movie. Rainy days, I watch it when I'm not at the rink.
How about books?
Aldridge: Him first.
Eaton: I'm not the biggest reader, but my favorite book I've ever read is Moby Dick. I knocked that out as a high school bet from my senior English teacher, and it's just a great book.
Aldridge: I think my favorite book is a biography of Marie Antoinette. I got it when we went to Paris after one of our JGPs. We went to Versailles, and it was in the gift shop, and I loved it.
Aldridge: Pickles, possibly fried. They taste better when they're fried.
Eaton: I usually always go with momma's home cooking. It always makes her pretty happy. A favorite is fried chicken and rice.
What's on your iPods?
Aldridge: I like country music, a lot of Sugarland, Toby Keith, and then there's also Bruno Mars and Maroon 5.
Eaton: Right now there is a lot of Michael Jackson and some West Coast rap on my iPod. That's about it.
Any off-ice hobbies?
Aldridge: When it's the right time of the season, I enjoy golfing a lot.
Eaton: Aside from the rink, I just enjoy hanging around with friends.
