(11/07/2011) - U.S. Figure Skating has been selected by the International Skating Union (ISU) as the organizing committee for the 2013 World Synchronized Skating Championships in Boston and a 2012 Junior Grand Prix (JGP) event in Lake Placid, N.Y.

"We are pleased that the ISU has selected the United States to host these prestigious figure skating events," U.S. Figure Skating Executive Director David Raith said. "We look forward to welcoming the international community for what we are sure will be terrific competitions."

The 2013 World Synchronized Championships will take place April 2-6, 2013, on the Boston University campus. Competition will be held at the Agganis Arena while practice will be in the Walter Brown Arena. The championships return to the U.S. for the first time since 2010, when the event was held in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The JGP competition is scheduled for Aug. 29-Sept. 2, 2012, and will be part of the 16th JGP Series, which consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. The top point-earners in each discipline qualify for the annual Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Lake Placid also hosted JGP events in 2007 and '09 as well as 2009 Skate America.
