Olympic gold medalists to make season debut in Vantaa

(10/04/2011) - Canada will be sending one ice dance team to the 16th edition of the Finlandia Trophy, a senior international competition in Vantaa, Finland. The event is held from October 6-9, at the Valtti Arena.

Tessa Virtue, 22, London, Ontario, and Scott Moir, 24, Ilderton, Ontario, are Canada's lone entry in the competition. The 2010 Olympic and world champions will be competing for the first time since their silver medal at the 2011 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow. They are coached by Marina Zoueva, Igor Shpilband and Johnny Johns at Artic Edge Ice Arena in Canton, Mich.

Karen Butcher of Nepean, Ontario, will be the Canadian official at the event.
