(05/03/2011) - Daisuke Takahashi is connoisseur of comic books and designer bags.

Takahashi had a lot to contend with at the 2011 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow. First, an earthquake and tsunami in his homeland caused the event to be moved from Tokyo to Russia. Then, at the start of his free program, a screw on his blade loosened when he attempted a quad. Japanese officials fixed the skate within the three-minute time limit, but the defending champion made several jumping mistakes and placed fifth.

The 25-year-old Takahashi vows to return next season to reclaim the title from Canada's Patrick Chan. "I don't want to end my career like this," he said.
