(06/24/2010) - DENVER, Colo. -- ESPN announced that Olympic champion and Dancing With The Stars' runner-up Evan Lysacek has been nominated for an ESPY award in the category of "Best U.S. Male Olympic Athlete." The 2010 ESPYs will be televised live Wednesday, July 14 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Lysacek's competition in the category includes speedskaters Apolo Anton Ohno and Shani Davis, skier Bode Miller and snowboarder Shaun White.

"I am honored to be nominated for an ESPY award and to be mentioned for the same award as some other amazing Olympic athletes,'' said Lysacek, who lives and trains in Los Angeles. It's been an amazing year with the Olympics and then Dancing With The Stars and now the ESPYs. I never could have imagined all of this.''

At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, Lysacek became the first U.S. man in 22 years to win the Olympic gold medal in figure skating, posting a career-best score of 257.67 points to defeat 2006 Olympic champion and heavy favorite Evgeni Plushenko of Russia. Lysacek also captured the title at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final last December.

Lysacek followed up his performance in Vancouver by trading his skates for dance shoes, competing in the ABC-TV hit Dancing With The Stars. Along with professional dancer partner Anna Trebunskaya, Lysacek finished as the show's runner-up.
