(08/27/2008) - Colorado Springs, Colo. - U.S. Figure Skating announced Wednesday that, a joint partnership between U.S. Figure Skating and MLB Advanced Media, has secured the exclusive U.S. broadband rights for the 2008-09 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, as well as several other ISU events.

The programming includes the entire Senior Grand Prix Series, beginning with Skate America and ending with the ISU Grand Prix Final. The ISU Junior Grand Prix Final, the 2009 European Figure Skating Championships, the 2009 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, the inaugural ISU World Team Trophy and the 2009 World Synchronized Skating Championships will also be shown on

"This unprecedented coverage of these prestigious ISU events illustrates the commitment of to bring more skating coverage than ever before to fans of the sport around the country," said David Raith, executive director of U.S. Figure Skating.

With the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver next up on the Olympic calendar, this agreement represents a major breakthrough for, which launched in the fall of 2006, as it will make more than 220 hours of major international figure skating competition available to fans throughout the United States. With the addition of this new programming, will now carry more than 300 hours of live figure skating during the coming season.

"We formed with the goal of creating opportunities, both for the fans and our skaters," Raith said. "With this new programming, we are able to give fans in the United States the opportunity to watch these great skating events like never before, while providing our top athletes the opportunity to showcase their incredible talent."

The complete event-streaming schedule for will be announced at a later date, with initial plans to include airing several of the ISU events live and on demand. Coverage on will also include competition video from U.S. Figure Skating's regional and sectional championships, on-demand and live coverage of the 2009 U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships, live and on-demand coverage of the 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships and more than 80 hours of live coverage of the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Cleveland. In addition to the robust schedule of competition video, will produce several exclusive features, including behind-the-scenes programs on the making of four Disson skating shows that will air on NBC.

The new programming will add to's already extensive coverage of figure skating around the world. The site will continue to provide news, event schedules and results, athlete bios, photo galleries, athlete diaries, the World Figure Skater Rankings and much more.
