Members of the U.S. bronze-medal-winning team at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games will be among the attendees at the ninth annual Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH) "Skating with the Stars" gala. The event, set for Monday, April 7, at Trump Rink in New York's Central Park, will honor figure skating legend Michelle Kwan; president of Sean John, Jeff Tweedy; and founder and CEO of Dylan's Candy Bar, Dylan Lauren.
The "Skating with the Stars" gala raises funds for FSH's year-round academic and fitness programs for underserved girls. In attendance will be Gracie Gold, Ashley Wagner, Jeremy Abbott and Jason Brown, who helped the United States to the bronze medal in the inaugural Olympic team event last month in Sochi, Russia. Icenetwork has also learned that Ryan Bradley, Mirai Nagasu, JoJo Starbuck, and Felicia Zhang and Nathan Bartholomay will be part of the festivities.
Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to skate alongside some of the greatest names in figure skating history, including Kwan and Olympic champions Dick Button, Scott Hamilton and Sarah Hughes. Also expected to attend will be Olympic silver medalists Sasha Cohen and Paul Wylie and Olympic bronze medalist Tim Goebel.
Now in its 17th year, Figure Skating in Harlem combines the power of education with the grace and discipline of figure skating. Its mission is to transform the lives of underserved New York City girls. Through its programming, FSH provides girls with innovative year-round health, education and fitness programs that promote academic success, physical health and emotional well-being.
