Olympic gold medalists Scott Hamilton and Sarah Hughes will join national, world and Olympic figure skaters May 3 at the BGSU Ice Arena as guest emcees for this year's "Skate for Hope" awareness and research fundraising show. The show will also include local skaters of all ages who raised funds for cancer research to earn their spots in the production.

Highlighting this year's cast are 2014 Olympians and U.S. silver medalists Felicia Zhang and Nathan Bartholomay, and 2013 U.S. champion Max Aaron. Joining them will be 2010 U.S. champion Rachael Flatt, Canadian silver medalists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier and 2006 Olympian Emily Hughes, among others.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Scott Hamilton CARES Initiative, a partnership between Hamilton, who is a cancer survivor, and the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute, where Hamilton was treated. CARES was created to promote cancer awareness and has raised millions of dollars for cancer research since its inception in 1999.

Skate For Hope (SFH) is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to the goal of eradicating breast cancer. To date, SFH has raised more than $500,000 for breast cancer research.
